Z Chivalry League Rules

For each League competition, fencers will proceed straight to the Direct Eliminations (D.E.).

Fencers will be ranked on the first day (Fri Apr 23) based on last year’s Z Gala 2009 results.

Thereafter, with each League competition, all participants will be ranked again.

Direct Eliminations With “Repechage” or “Hope Run”

Through Z Chivalry League, we will also be introducing a system of D.E. with “Repechage”.

This essentially allows fencers who have been eliminated in a bout to be given a second chance to re-enter the D.E. and fence again.

This system allows for more fencing opportunities for everyone.

Points Awarded After Each Monthly League Competition:
- 1st (12 points)
- 2nd (10 points)
- Joint 3rd (8 points)
- 5-8th (6 points)
- 9-12th (4 points)
- 13-16th (3 points)
- 17-24th (2 points)
- 25th & lower (1 point)

After each League Competition, the League points will be tallied and the overall leader of each category will be awarded a “Z Chivalry” mask sticker for the fencer to proudly display on her/his fencing mask.

Handicap System:

To allow for maximum opportunity for everyone to become League Champions, Z Chivalry League will adopt a handicap points system.

For each D.E. bout, the fencer with the higher Z Grade will give her/his opponent points advantage in direct relationship to the difference in their Z Grades.

For each grade difference, there will be a 2 point advantage for the lower grade in each 10-point bout.

For example:

  • If a Z3 fencer fences a Z1 fencer, the Z1 fencer will have a 4 point advantage
  • similarly, if a Z3 fencer fences a Z2 fencer, the Z2 fencer will have a 2 point advantage.

Remember: Z Chivalry League is about participation and fencing for your charity. By participating, everyone wins!
