2009 Overseas Training Camp – Guangzhou, China


One For All and All For Z

As part of our training to develop young champions, Z Fencing partnered with Wei Lun Sports Institute (Guangzhou, China) for a 2 week intensive training camp in Nov 2009. Training alongside Guangzhou’s young fencers, our Z Fencers experienced the intensity of full day trainings and, through this, enhanced their competitive fencing skills.

Guangzhou Training Camp Highlights:
  • fencing competitions with Wei Lun Sports Institute fencers and other Guangzhou fencers
  • intensive day and afternoon trainings
  • big brother/sister training and mentoring from Zyouth fencers
  • individual lessons with coaches
  • one day rest & relax tour of Guangzhou’s historical sites

Physical and Mental Conditioning Exercises

Training Camp Goals:
  • to provide Z Fencers with the physical and mental skills to adapt to intense full day trainings
  • expose Z Fencers to overseas training conditions and culture in preparation for international competitions
  • cultural exchange between Z Fencers and fencers from host country
  • build camaraderie among Z Fencers
  • establish leadership platform for Zyouth fencers to mentor and guide younger Zketeers
  • reinforce independence by training fencers how to take care of themselves when overseas


Our first overseas fencing training camp was very well received by participating fencers and their parents. We are in the midst of planning out a new series of training camps for 2010. Stay tuned!
